William Urschel
Chief Executive Officer
Mr. Urschel founded AdECN in October, 2003. Most recently, Mr. Urschel was CEO of publicly-traded ExperTelligence (EXGP.PK) and its subsidiary, 3DStockCharts, from July 2002 until the end of 2003, when he engineered the wind-up and liquidation of that company. Previously, Mr. Urschel started and ran three successful private companies, all located in Santa Barbara: In 2000 he started The Narrative Press, Inc., a digital book publishing company with 106 titles, which he sold in December 2005. In 1994 he started Alliance Manufacturing Software, Inc., which quickly became a leading publisher of MRP/ERP software to small and mid-sized manufacturers, which was sold to Keweil Systems in 1999. In 1986 Mr. Urschel founded Arc Tangent, Inc., which published the first sophisticated direct marketing and list processing software for the IBM PC and compatibles, which was sold to Group 1 Software in 1992. In 1983 Mr. Urschel produced the first low-priced business accounting software for PCs, Ready-to-Run Accounting, marketed by Manusoft, which remained on the market for twelve years. In the early and mid-1980s Mr. Urschel wrote two books on software for Alfred Publishing, produced two stock market software products for Hayden Book Company, and wrote over 40 magazine articles, many for PC World Magazine. Mr. Urschel has served on several corporate and non-profit boards, including Digital Map Products, Laguna Blanca School, and the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History. Mr. Urschel received a B.A. in History from Princeton University.
Jeff Green
Chief Operations Officer
Mr. Green was formerly Vice President of Operations and Search Marketing for eBound Strategies.com, a Los Angeles advertising agency for affiliate and CPA marketing, which was rated one of the top 20 companies of 2004 by Adbumb Magazine. While at eBound he designed several patent-pending technologies for online ad conversion and tracking, and designed the advertising network for Nami Media. Previously, Mr. Green was Marketing Production Manager at 411 Web Interactive, an online advertising agency and internet web directory, where he managed the Marketing, Design, and Customer Service Departments. During his tenure there, the company was rated by Newsweek as one of the hundred best web sites on the Internet. He began his career as the Technical Account Manager for the MSN division of Microsoft in Salt Lake City. Mr. Green received a B.A. in English with a minor in Business Management and Accounting from Brigham Young University.
John Sobieski
Chief Technology Officer
Mr. Sobieski brings over seventeen years of progressive experience in IT management, analysis, and development to the position Chief Technology Officer at AdECN, a role he was promoted into after six months excelling as Lead Program Manager for the company. Before joining AdECN, Mr. Sobieski was the Senior Technical Program Manager of Microsoft's adCenter, where he was responsible for the functional design, specification, and prioritization of the features and products used in Microsoft's dynamic ad delivery and content analysis systems. In advance of Microsoft, Mr. Sobieski spent two years at Edmunds.com, Inc. in Business Intelligence and Data Architecture. The preceding four years were spent as the Senior Manager of the Database Development and Operations units at Overture Services, Inc., where Mr. Sobieski streamlined Overture's processing architecture and data warehouse, saving millions and aiding in its 2003 purchase by Yahoo!. Mr. Sobieski also spent the early part of his career as a senior database developer and senior analyst at large healthcare providers, CSC Healthcare Systems and CIGNA Healthcare of California, respectively. Mr. Sobieski received a B.A. in History from Revelle College, University of California, San Diego.
Jed Nahum
Business Integration Director
Mr. Nahum is AdECN's Business Integration Director. As the team leader responsible for business strategies for the AdECN Exchange, Mr. Nahum oversees revenue and cost analysis as well as setting performance benchmarks for AdECN. He is liaison for AdECN to the larger Microsoft online advertising platform and rallies the resources within Microsoft that are critical to AdECN's success. In his prior role as Director of Product Management for adCenter, Mr. Nahum identified AdECN as a target in Microsoft's advertising exchange strategy and drove the acquisition. After closing, he was asked to continue on as AdECN's Integration Director. In his Director of Product management role, Mr. Nahum led a team of product managers on search, contextual, and other components of Microsoft's Online Ad Platform. Previously, Mr. Nahum served as Director of Search Engine Marketing at SmartBargains, Inc., where his duties included managing revenue performance, budget development, cost analysis, and process control across all Pay Per Click Search Engines. Before that, he spent several years in product management and finance at Amazon.com, most notably having started the Amazon wireless phones store. Mr. Nahum holds an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and received a B.A. in Mathematics from Haverford College.
Ian Ferreira
Chief Architect
Mr. Ferreira was previously the Architect on the adCenter Paid Search application team and revamped the application stack including the architecture and delivery of the Jupiter framework (JFX) and made contributions on the WCF based services running a high transaction system. Most recently Mr. Ferreira was responsible for the Microsoft Advertising Foundation (MAF) SDK, using a S-a-a-S design, as well as adCenter's first desktop product. Mr. Ferreira also owned development of Paid Search Campaign Management and has been the consulting architect on an initiative to create a semi-hosted environment for the all external API's in the adCenter ecosystem. Prior to adCenter, Mr. Ferreira worked as Development Manager on projects ranging from a SOA management platforms (Alchemy), to learning and reporting systems (Roleguide, LMS etc). Before joining Microsoft in 2004, Mr. Ferreira was Senior Project Engineer at OgilvyInteractive, a leading advertising agency, working on web applications in both the J2EE and .Net stack for some major technology and pharmaceutical brands. Mr. Ferreira held various development and technology roles, including partner in a computer vending and consulting company, before joining Ogilvy in South Africa and moving to the US. Mr. Ferreira received a B.E. in Electronic Engineering from the University of Stellenbosch in South Africa
Jon Marinello
Development Manager
Mr. Marinello was previously Vice President, Software Development with United Online, where he had sole technical responsibility for client software used by 2.5 million subscribers in the company's dial-up, acceleration, and broadband client services (including NetZero, Juno, and Bluelight). Mr. Marinello led teams across the US and in India to re-engineer the client-side offline and online advertising framework and to re-architect to support compatibility with Microsoft's Vista. Mr. Marinello also guided the design and implementation of United Online's automated developer testing framework, and was a key contributor to its 3G efforts. As a consultant, Mr. Marinello designed and implemented significant additions to both Commission Junction's and Citrix's existing test framework and streamlined development processes and guidelines. Formerly at Callwave, Mr. Marinello was Engineering Director and managed the redesign and deployment of the company's Internet Answering Machine client to achieve zero-down-time, improve system failure visibility, and increase ease of system extensibility. Earlier in his career, Mr. Marinello was a Principle Software Engineer and Software Manger at Unisys (PulsePoint Communications), a Project Architect and Project Manager at Borland (Starbase Corporation), as well as manager and individual contributor to various software projects and companies. Mr. Marinello received a B.A. in Computer Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
Corinna Calhoun
Director, Client Services
Ms. Calhoun served as Director, Ad Support in the Client Service Operations team at Microsoft before joining AdECN and was accountable for technical support and other key operational functions across Microsoft's advertising business (Search, Display, ContentAds, Syndication, Mobile, and others). Ms. Calhoun oversaw the design and deployment of operational processes, systems and tools, and a multi-office team of 60 supporting all global markets. Ms. Calhoun also oversaw adCenter API services, including engineers working directly with Microsoft's larger aggregator and direct advertiser customers to integrate with and leverage the API. Prior to Microsoft, Ms. Calhoun served as Director of Operations for TeleCommunication Systems, a wireless software and services provider, and led 8 teams of technology and support professionals in the roll-out, optimization, and continued support of wireless location-based services (e911 and commercial) for some of the country's largest wireless carriers (Verizon, Cingular Wireless, T-Mobile). The teams Ms. Calhoun led defined new standards for call routing and data delivery, and designed and deployed new, market differentiating models and systems for customer self-care, reducing operational costs. Previously, Ms. Calhoun spent time in the Internet industry, first in project management and later with increasing levels of responsibility over account management and operations. As a Partner at USWeb/CKS, Ms. Calhoun was accountable for office profitability, employee programs and customer satisfaction. Ms. Calhoun's career started in production for entertainment and media companies, including a role in R&D for a leading children's software company. Ms. Calhoun received a B.A. in European History from Barnard College, Columbia University.
David Coburn
Director, Product Management
Mr. Coburn was Director of Monetization and Advertising for Microsoft Office Live, where he created new advertising revenue streams through development and execution of advertising monetization strategies, ad product management, go-to market, and sales activities prior to joining AdECN. Mr. Coburn lead the Office advertising initiative in 2005, was a key contributor to the start-up team launching the first version of ad-supported Office Live Small Business in January 2006, and also brought advertising in Office Online to US and international markets in November 2006. Prior to Office Live, Mr. Coburn was Director of Product Planning & Marketing in the Office New Markets group where he oversaw customer research, product planning, product management, marketing and PR. Mr. Coburn joined Microsoft in 1999 as a Business Development Manager in the Windows group, where he co-developed the Windows Shared Source and Government Security Programs, managing key relationships worldwide with Fortune 500 customers, competitors, and government signatories. Before joining Microsoft, Mr. Coburn held senior management, sales, and marketing positions with start-up companies in the software and financial services sectors. Mr. Coburn holds an MBA in Finance and Entrepreneurship from the University of Washington Business School and received a B.A. in Political Science and International Relations from the University of California, Berkeley.
Paul Henry
Director, Technology Operations
Mr. Henry was the Director of Technology Operations for Commission Junction, a ValueClick company, for four and a half years where he directed the growth of their technical infrastructure to support over 11 billion impressions per month. Prior to Commission Junction, Mr. Henry spent twelve years with Andersen Consulting / Accenture, most recently as a senior technology manager with their communications industry group where he managed technology operations for Teleworks, a four hundred seat solution center, and managed the technical infrastructure for multiple concurrent client projects. Prior to Teleworks, Mr. Henry managed technical teams on projects for several communications clients including Pacific Bell, Bell Atlantic, Telecom Australia and Iridium. Mr. Henry received a B.S. in Computer Science from Michigan State University.
Dan Onorato
Test Manager
Mr. Onorato is Test Manager for AdECN and leads the Quality Assurance Team. Prior to joining AdECN, Mr. Onorato was the Engineering Director of Software Quality Assurance at CallWave, where he built and managed the QA team from inception, aiding in regular profitability and CallWave's IPO in September 2004. Mr. Onorato co-authored the software development process, source code and release processes, and was critical in maintaining a high integrity product with every deployment. Mr. Onorato's career began at PulsePoint Communications, where he spent 16 years and was ultimately the Director Technical Operations, responsible for all of Technical Support, Field Support, Sustaining Engineering, and Training Departments. Previously, Mr. Onorato created PulsePoint's Technical Support and Sustaining Engineering department and was its head Manager in charge of developing and maintaining department procedures, service agreements, and building out the team. Originally, Mr. Onorato held several Technical Support and engineering positions at PulsePoint and, after multiple promotions, was tasked with Managing the department. Mr. Onorato is a graduate of the DeVry Institute of Technology's Digital Electronics Engineering Program.
